About Excel FeedersOur goal is to construct high quality and attractive looking grain feeders. Our whole concept is to have a feeder strong enough to withstand rough treatment by horses and to have a practical and safe way of feeding them. I have been working with horses for 40 years, and have seen many types of behaviors and horse personalities, in herds and alone, especially during feeding time. For example, feeding a lot of horses together in one large trough or too close together, usually results in someone not getting enough grain. Spacing feeders out along a fence line, as ours are designed to do, helps to limit fighting over feed. Also, entering a pen during feeding time can be a very unsafe situation, as horses can be very pushy with one another or with a person. Having strong feeders, securely fastened to the fence poles or the fence itself, and feeding from the outside is a much safer and wiser way to feed. I have known many people who have been kicked by a horse who was actually trying to kick another horse, especially when food is involved. Our stall feeders are made also with durability and safety in mind. Some horses are aggressive in a stall at feeding time. A flat wall feeder can be placed near a stall door to eliminate the need for a person to enter the stall to put grain in. A corner feeder is also available if the owner prefers. I have seen many horses destroy plastic feeders. I have seen many horse owners continually retying buckets along the fence line or in a stall. I have been in situations where going into a stall or pen during feeding time to retrieve and replace a feeder just was not safe. Our feeders are a strong, practical, and attractive accessory to anyone from a backyard horse owner to the largest show barn. Carol Green
