Excel Horse Feeders
As a horse trainer for the past 30 years, I have had the opportunity to
work with horse farms, training facilities, veterinarians and private
horse owners in many different situations. I have come across horses of
all breeds, large and small, temperamental or calm- yet one thing always
remained constant: the owners that call upon me are always dedicated and
eager to improve their horse’s lifestyle and make it easier, faster,
safer and more cost efficient to care for them.
One problem all of us horse owners face is how to provide our horses
with their feed in a way that is simple, permanent and cost efficient.
We are tired of feeders filled with feed and costly supplements tossed
onto the ground, where it is wasted or even worse, ingested by our
horses along with sand and dirt or even manure on the ground.
We
are tired of trying to feed our horses and then having to retrieve their
buckets and feeders in the stall or pasture, only to find another bucket
destroyed. Owners of multiple horses, would like to have a way to
uniformly feed their horses the same way, day-in and day-out, with
feeders that all match, instead of a variety of colors and types of
bowls, buckets and feeders. One way to enhance any barn is to have
everything match and be energy efficient in the amount of time it takes
to feed and wastes the least amount of grain and expensive supplements.
Another issue the bigger farms face is the liability with employees.
Some are just not experienced enough to enter the stalls, or not
trustworthy enough to make sure the barn doors get locked up after
feeding, and of course there are the horses that are dangerous! We need
feeders that are easily accessible and really stay put.
Of
course, we would like a feeder that could fit in any type of stall, in
corners or stall fronts or even out in the pasture on the fence or fence
posts, with good drainage so when we come to feed the horses we don’t
have to bother with time consuming pouring out the water.
What all horse and barn owners want is to be done with all the waste of
time and money !!
As a horse trainer and horse owner myself, I asked myself what would be
the best way to make a feeder that would satisfy everyone's needs AND be
attractive on top of it. With my husband, who is an engineer that
specializes in barn designs and building, we brain-stormed for years on
this subject. We designed and built proto-types, some of which we
discarded for various reasons, until we came up with a feeder that
seemed to fit the bill. We fed our own horses out of them, then went
back to the design board and rebuilt it many times over. Once we were
satisfied that we had a model that was safe and sturdy and effective, we
tested it at several barn locations and a local breeder with a big barn
of horses, to see what our feedback would be.
The positive reactions we got were exciting! The horse farm they were
tested at ordered more- our feeders held up through rain, wind and
cold-and remained securely attached, defying even the most destructive
of stallions.
Not
only that, the farm finally had a way of feeding multiple horses in a
pen or pasture, by attaching the feeders along the fence line, with a
safe distance between the horses. And they had the added peace of mind
knowing that their horses were receiving all of their grain,
supplements, medications and weren’t eating spilled feed off the ground
along with sand, dirt or even manure!
Soon enough, private horse owners and other horse farms approached us
asking to buy our feeders, and before we knew it, the overwhelming
demand for our unique horse feeders convinced us that our design met
everyone's needs.
Now, we can offer our feeders, aptly named EXCELFEEDERS, to everyone, in
varying styles, designs and colors. Please take the time to browse

solution to the "feed bowl problem".
